In a previous life, I spent 24 years in the military staying healthy and fit and constantly trying to find a way to do it naturally.
Yoga came into my life in 1998 at a time when I greatly needed to learn how not only to reduce my stress, but also how to manage it. Through self-practice, I learned some of the benefits of yoga; but it wasn’t until I started attending yoga classes that the benefits and understanding of the practice really emerged. I took as many yoga classes as I could find, experimenting with many different traditions along the way. During this time, I was drawn to the Kripalu style of yoga.
In 2007, I began teaching yoga to some of my fellow veterans during our physical training (PT) sessions. With comments like “I could stay in savasana all day” and “I went to a yoga class with my wife this weekend — it was great,” I knew I’d hit on something that was worth my time and effort to further explore. The more I taught, the more I wanted to learn about this unique, healing practice.
After retiring from the U.S Air Force in 2012, I attended an RYS-200 school and became a certified yoga instructor in 2014. Yoga teacher training changed my life so much (thanks to lead instructor, Jennifer McCracken), I continued my holistic healing education and was certified as a Yoga and Ayurvedic Wellness Professional in 2015. Jen and I went on to start a non-profit, donation-based yoga center that’s mission is to bring the healing of yoga to trauma survivors — Jen continues to work with domestic violence survivors.
In 2016, I started this little thing called Nadi Om Wellness (MM#40385) and continued my studies, receiving my Bachelor’s Degree in Metaphysical Science, beginning a Massage Therapy program, becoming a certified Yoga Warrior International instructor, and receiving the honor of Usui Reiki Master Teacher. In 2017, I graduated from the Florida School of Massage and received my Massage Therapy License (MA#87383) from the state of Florida. Today, I continue to work on my Metaphysics and Ayurvedic learning journeys. I am so grateful for the opportunities that have presented themselves to me so that I could continue my education — it IS a life-long learning process.
As the founder/president of Nadi Om Wellness, I am committed to provide an education venue about Yoga and Ayurveda. Through yoga classes, workshops, and personal Ayurvedic consultations, I hope to expand the knowledge of these sister sciences and how they work together to provide healthy lifestyle choices everyone can use in a personal wellness plan. As I’ve expanded the services I offer to include reflexology, metaphysics and Reiki, I find I never stray far from my foundation of Yoga and Ayurveda. It seems that not only is everything within the body connected, it may be that everything in the universe is also.
