Our programs are donation sponsored – participants do not pay to attend. Our mission is to share the healing practice of yoga with the local community to support those who would seek more for their health care. My name is Grace and I’m a yoga teacher. I’m also the co-founder of the Yoga to overcOMe program at Nadi Om Wellness. Yoga has been an integral part of my life for over 20 years now.
As my journey with yoga has progressed, I’ve learned how impactful yoga can be to the body, mind, and spirit. When healing yourself, you often want to share what works for you with others. I learned yoga was more than just poses. Yoga was a practice that allowed me to heal at my own pace, in my own time, with no judgment and no expectations. I learned yoga is a practice of self care that can help anyone who chooses it.
There was never a doubt I was destined to share the practice of yoga with others and it seemed fair to start with my fellow veterans (which I did in 2007). When I retired from the Air Force, the question became how can I give back to the community I’ve decided to join? It’s said “the teacher will appear when the student is ready.” So has been the case with Nadi Om Wellness and the Yoga to overcOMe program. When I was ready, what was needed appeared.
I look forward to the next steps in this journey and I continue to be grateful for all that has appeared to support Nadi Om Wellness. I am especially thankful to George Kent who shares my passion to help others and agreed to step on the path with me to establish the Yoga to overcOMe program.
Hi, my name is George Kent, and I am one of the co-founders of the Nadi Om Wellness Yoga to overcOMe program. What motivated me to help create a universal program that uses yoga as a way to help people during times of distress and dissociation?
Well, for starters, there are plenty of wonderful trauma informed yoga nonprofit organizations that focus on only certain demographics, such as those incarcerated, veterans and first responders. I was active in one of these organizations, but after careful reflection and my ongoing Contemplative Psychology studies at Naropa University, I wanted to cast a larger net to include everyone.
Trauma is more common than what most people realize or would like to admit. Trauma is not selective, nor does it only happen to a certain group(s) of people in the community. I am a child abuse trauma survivor! Through my own personal experience of a yoga practice, I have created a safe place in my life to live free from my own traumatic past.
My passion is to not only help myself, but other trauma survivors find safety through simple and effective self-regulatory practices of breathwork, mindful movement, guided rest, meditation, and gratitude. Because of this passion, I have taken part in specialized yoga teacher training for trauma recovery for veterans and first responders. Through the Yoga to OvercOMe program, anyone can improve their mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing with yoga.
“ We don’t heal in isolation, but in community. ”

“ For real change to take place, the body needs to learn that the danger has passed and to live in the present moment. ”

Nadi Om Wellness was established to provide an education venue about Yoga and Ayurveda. Through classes, workshops, and training, we invite you to expand your knowledge of these sister sciences and how they work together to provide you with healthy lifestyle choices you can use in your personal wellness plan.
Our journey has led us to explore trauma-informed, somatically-focused yoga and our instructors have trained with well-established, empirically informed programs that have been active in community and clinical settings for many years. We are dedicated to offering a recovery path through the practice of yoga for those looking to expand their self-care toolbox and add to their health care plan.
We know trauma does not discriminate – anyone can experience trauma at varying levels. Yoga is a complementary practice supporting other trauma recovery therapies. All are welcome to explore the practice of yoga to see how it can serve in their wellness journey.
Soon after her 24 year Air Force career, Grace Beck founded Nadi Om Wellness and now serves as a Board Member and as the Executive Director. CLICK HERE to learn more about Grace and her journey.
