Asana Lab #1

with George

Easy Pose/Table/Downward Facing Dog with emphasis on safe and efficient transitions in and out of each posture

Do you ever wonder why you’re encouraged to move into and out of poses in a certain way during a yoga class? And why certain anatomical actions for each yoga posture are essential to the safety and wellbeing of every individual?

In the book Embodied Posture: Your Unique Body and Yoga, author Stacy Dockins shares, “Yoga posture is a vehicle through which we practice mindful awareness. It is also a tool for increasing musculoskeletal wellness.”

In this Asana Lab, we’ll take a closer look at three fundamental yoga postures and the transitional movements necessary in a yoga class. This workshop is an opportunity for a deeper understanding through experiential learning for each participant as they are introduced to key biomechanical, anatomical, and psychological principles for each asana and transitional movements presented.
