Crazy Wisdom, The Language of Your Body

w/ Somatic Movement expert, Pam Deese

4 weeks; 8 classes

This class will be led by Pamela Deese a Hanna Somatic Educator and Functional Movement Specialist.

The lessons rely upon small, gentle movements done in a relaxed way to facilitate communication between your brain and body.   The movements are most effective when you move slowly, do less, avoid discomfort, and pay attention to your internal sensations. Your brain has an opportunity to sample new options; a chance to learn something new. New neurological pathways begin to develop, paving the way for better posture, easier movement, and better integration. Each class is packed full of the crazy wisdom our body’s offer us when we pay attention. We will discuss the importance of neuroception, interoception and the vagal nerve’s role in connection to self and others.

You will learn to relax muscles of the:

Front of the Body: Relaxing these muscles also frees the visceral organs, strengthens the vagal tone and helps build resilience.

Back of the Body:  Relaxing the tension held in the low, middle and upper back improves breathing and ease of movement without pain.

The Waist and Shoulder: Integrate the movements between the shoulder and pelvis.

Hips, Legs and Feet: Improves posture and creates overall sensation of balance, strengthen and flexibility to move through our day.

The class is designed with educational content around movements that are easy to incorporate into a daily practice of 10 to 40 minutes.  Simply pay attention to your own experience, in a kind and respectful way, by noticing where you hold muscle tension and how to relax and find a pain free way to move through life.

Handouts are provided to help you practice at home.
